The Animal Keeper proudly offers a full service pet spa and grooming service at all of our facilities. Whether just a bath, a groom or a full on spa treatment with blueberry facial we can satisfy your grooming needs. We have highly experienced great groomers in each location and recently have added a few new faces. Please welcome our newest groomer at the Encinitas location.

Kathy Hopper our groomer at the Encinitas location was just named Vice President and Secretary of SCPGA (Southern California Pet Groomers Association) while at the Grooming Expo in Pasadena this week. Kathryn Hopper

A veteran groomer who comes to us, most recently, from Loveland, CO where she was manager of All Pets Grooming Salon for seven years. She was also previously a groomer at Dirty Dog in Del Mar, CA. Kathy is one of the few who does do hand stripping on coats that require it. She has her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. Kathryn has been involved in the dog show community for a number of years and has several dogs of her own. She offers grooming for all breeds in the Show Grooming category. She has a strong love for the Great Pyrenees breed and has shown her own dogs in this breed category. Please make a point to introduce yourself to Kathryn the next time you are in our location. I think you will find her work exceptional and her personality is delightful. We offer grooming 7 days a week in this location by appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Chiwe Gordon

Also a new addition specializing in Cat Grooming. Yes, if cats are your thing we can satisfy your grooming needs. Although all of our groomers are qualified to do cats, Chiwe is unique in that she specializes in Breed Cuts, Lion Cuts, Shave Downs, Hair Trims and cat bathing. So if you have a cat that doesn’t particularly like grooming or getting a bath, no problem. Chiwe fulfilled a paid apprenticeship in Advanced Techniques in Cat Grooming, has her certification in Pet Grooming SF/SPCA Pet Grooming College and her certification in Pet First Aid & CPR from the American Red Cross. Chiwe has also had a lot of other animal related work experience including dog trainer, behavior counselor, vet assistant, and kennel assistant for high risk behavior dogs and cats. Chiwe is available for specialized cat grooming services at all of our locations by appointment only.
